The Moorings Announces Updates to its Flagship Base in the B.V.I.

The British Virgin Islands' premier yacht charter company The Moorings has unveiled new developments to its Tortola flagship base this month.

Just in time for travelers taking advantage of the new direct flights from Miami to Tortola, The Moorings marina welcomes guests to a new provisions market, restaurant and shops in addition to a rejuvenated fleet of yachts ready to set sail.

The Moorings flagship base originated over 50 years ago. The operation has grown to accommodate nearly 300 vessels and is the largest privately owned marina dedicated to Yacht Charter vacations in the world. Here is what Moorings guests can enjoy on their next visit to this charter destination.

New Moorings Market

Years in the making, the newly opened Moorings Market is a one-stop shop for all provisioning needs. The on-site supermarket has everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, deli meats, baked goods, essentials such as sunscreen and cleaning supplies, and an extensive selection of wine and spirits. For guests who like to plan ahead of time, The Moorings offers a convenient online shopping experience, where guests can pre-order their food and beverages ahead of their charters and staff will deliver the groceries directly to their yacht.

New and Improved Watersports Shop

Sail Caribbean Divers is a longstanding partner of The Moorings. Previously operating out of a small kiosk, the shop has now relocated to the large conference space adjacent to the front desk of The Moorings base. The new space offers a convenient location to peruse last-minute watersports items to ensure guests make the most of their time on the water.

Charlie’s Restaurant Reopens

After a brief hiatus, Charlie’s Restaurant, which bears the name of the beloved co-founder of The Moorings, has now reopened. With a new Head Chef, revamped menu and full bar, this waterfront restaurant is well suited to unwind and enjoy a refreshing drink after a long day of travel. In addition to Ginny’s corner coffee shop and a poolside restaurant, there is no shortage of dining options throughout the marina.

Shopping & Relaxation

For guests visiting The Moorings marina, there is plenty to do and see before they set sail. From the Amara Spa, to the Art Studio, Gift Shop, Hiho Apparel shop, poolside bar & restaurant, and on-site hotel, the newly renamed Moorings Yacht Club has it all.

A Rejuvenated Fleet

The Moorings welcomes a completely rejuvenated fleet of yachts ready to host guests on their next adventure. The Sailing catamaran fleet is now comprised of new yachts such as the Moorings 4200, the larger Moorings 4500, and flagship Moorings 5000. The Power catamaran fleet has been similarly upgraded, now featuring three distinct yacht types to accommodate groups of all sizes, from the three-cabin Moorings 403PC, to the four-cabin 464PC, and the larger 534PC. The Moorings also continues to invest in the monohull fleet, with up to 12 brand-new yachts of varying sizes scheduled for delivery this fall.

New Direct Flights to Tortola

American Airlines has launched a new non-stop flight service from Miami to Beef Island, Tortola starting June 1, 2023. The flights are scheduled to run through the summer, resuming again from November onward, making it easier to get to this charter destination.
