New Biking and Hiking Trail Unveiled in Israel

The Mount of the Beatitutdes

The Israel Ministry of Tourism is launching an all-new 37-mile Gospel Trail around the Sea of Galilee, set to debut in May.

An initiative of the Israel Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with KKL-JNF and the National Parks Authority, the Gospel Trail offers active travelers and religious travel clients the opportunity to walk and cycle through specially designed footpaths along the Sea of Galilee. The trail is based on the path Jesus would have taken from Mount Precipice to Capernaum, making stops at Mount Tabor, Cana, the Horns of Hettin, Mount Arbel, Magdala, Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes.

“The launch of the new Gospel Trail will inspire pilgrims from around the world to travel to Israel and walk this historic route in the footsteps of Jesus,” said Haim Gutin, Israel commissioner for tourism, North and South America.

The trail also includes scripture readings hewn into basalt rocks, rest and picnic areas and information sites, and is set to open in full this May.
