New Fly Fishing Lodge Opens on Limay River in Patagonia

Frontiers Travel recently announced the opening of Limay River Lodge, the only fly fishing lodge on the Middle Limay River in Patagonia’s Neuquén Province in Argentina.

This operation has lodging, cuisine, service, personnel and equipment. But most importantly, it offers fly fishing for uniquely large and strong brown and rainbow trout. The lodge includes seven double rooms with en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi, a large outdoor fireplace/entertainment area, fleet of Drift Boats, new 4x4 vehicles for transport, gourmet meals and high-end spirits. The season is mid November – mid May. Prices start at $850 per day.

This is currently the only lodge on the Middle Limay River. The lodge offers an opportunity to catch the largest Browns in Patagonia (6 to 12-plus pounds) and surface action or nymph fishing for large healthy Rainbows and Browns either wading/floating.

Probably the richest fishing resource in Northern Patagonia, the Middle Limay River offers unique fly-fishing opportunities for the international angler. This is a tail-water fishery that flows out of Pichi Picun Leufu Dam, guaranteeing consistent water flow, temperature and clarity. The Middle Limay River runs 50 miles along the semi-arid Patagonian high steppe into the huge fertile lake formed by El Chocon Dam

This tail water fishery ensures profuse underwater life of all sorts and a variety of daily hatches generate ideal conditions for super healthy populations of strong, resident Brown and Rainbow Trout that take dries on the surface like there is no tomorrow.

The fact that it flows into a gigantic, fertile lake makes it possible for hunting the enormous migratory brown trout that swim up the river during the season.
