Oahu ups Excise Tax

Travelers bound for Oahu in the new year will see a slight increase in the tax rate. The state excise tax—assessed on everything from shopping and dining to lodging—will rise from 4 to 4.5 percent on Oahu. There's no change to the state's 7.25 percent transient-accommodations tax, which also shows up on hotel folios.
