New Tours and Adventures

KapohoKine Adventures' Evening Volcano Explorer tour has added two new stops for its guests staying in Kona and further north through the Kohala Coast. The tour now starts at Bay View Farm in Honaunau with a coffee mill tour and tasting.

Bay View Farm utilizes only 100 percent estate-grown Kona coffee. The tour also includes a stop at the Star of the Sea Painted Church, where St. Damien first ministered before moving on to Molokai's Kalaupapa Peninsula.

Clients can zipline over Hamakua Coast rainforest scenery, including a 250-foot waterfall and a 300-foot-deep gorge with ocean and Maunakea mountain views, at Botanical World Adventures. The zipline experience offers visitors and residents an aerial glimpse of the adventure park's Hawaii Island acreage.

Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows is offering a new challenge for golfers of all ages in addition to its 36-hole North and South Courses. The resort's newly launched WikiWiki Course , formerly its Keiki Course, offers a nine-hole walking course for beginners, junior golfers, families or golfers seeking a quick round in Hawaii.

Culinary Happenings

In November, Hula Hulas opened the first of five "farm-to-fork and entertainment restaurants and bars" it plans to launch statewide. Hula Hulas in Hilo offers ocean view dining and a menu supporting local farmers, fishermen, bow hunters and food crafters.

The restaurant's wine and spirits menu includes a dozen local and global craft beers on draught, and seasonal cocktails incorporating simple syrups. Live music is offered nightly on the restaurant's elevated stage.

Fairmont Orchid Hawaii is offering a new healthy menu at its "Spa Without Walls," featuring a variety of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, as well as sweet treats and refreshing libations.

Queen's Court Restaurant at Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, which offers buffet dining and island-inspired cuisine highlighting locally sourced ingredients, recently introduced its new breakfast buffet. Offered daily from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m., the buffet includes an omelet station, waffle station, ice cream bar, eggs benedict, various meats and hot items, baked goods, cereal, island fruit, soup and beverages.
