Princeville’s Makai Golf Club Offers On-Site Weddings

princeville's makai golf clubLooking for an unusual spot to tie the knot in the Aloha State? Princeville’s Makai Golf Club is now offering wedding ceremonies on the acclaimed course. The Makai on-course weddings are not just for avid golfers but for anyone seeking a unique, memorable and breathtakingly scenic venue for their wedding.

Located on Kauai’s north shore, the Makai Course boasts an extraordinarily beautiful setting.  In 2011, the Makai was named one of the “Top 5 Great Golf Settings in the U.S.” by National Geographic Traveler.

The course opened in 1971 as the first solo effort of Robert Trent Jones, Jr. It offers a variety of possible sites for wedding ceremonies and receptions in late afternoon (5 p.m. or later). The oceanfront 7th hole is the most popular setting for weddings, but couples can choose from other locales on the course, as well.

Site fees range from $695 for an intimate gathering for up to 10 guests to $25,000 for an all-day buyout of the Makai Golf Club for a wedding and reception (including golf tournament, and use of tennis courts and pool) for up to 125 guests.

Other than providing one of the world’s most dramatic settings and golf cart transportation to and from the chosen ceremony site, the course does not provide any other supplies, equipment, or arrangements (such as procuring a minister or officiate) for the ceremony or reception. For ceremonies involving over 10 attendees, the services of a professional wedding coordinator are required.

The 27-hole Makai Golf Club at Princeville features two uniquely individual courses: the magnificent 18-hole Makai Course, incorporating serene lakes and stunning ocean coastline; and the leisurely 9-hole Woods Course, winding through native woodlands against a backdrop of lush mountain views. The Makai Course underwent a comprehensive 14-month renovation, reopening in early 2010 to rave reviews for its immaculate condition and playability.
