The Puerto Rico Tourism Company Launches New Posadas Program

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) launched a program to develop new and unique styles of accommodations on the island, the Puerto Rico Posadas Program. Posadas are urban historical buildings restored into small hotels, usually ranging from seven to 75 rooms.

Each Posada offers visitors a themed experience, extended through all parts of the reconstructed building and its decor. An ancient art museum transformed into a posh gallery inn, or a 1920s convent restored into accommodations steeped in religious history.

The experience encourages visitors to explore the culture and history of its local municipality and discover the hidden gems and lesser-visited areas of Puerto Rico.

As part of this program, PRTC recently certified nearly 60 rooms and aims to certify more than 100 additional rooms in 2015. The Program’s inauguration began with the Hotel Colonial in Mayagüez and Da’House Hotelin Old San Juan.
