Puerto Vallarta Introduces New Brand at Tianguis

With new construction being done throughout the city of Puerto Vallarta and a new image of the city’s downtown already showing, Puerto Vallarta decided to launch its new brand.

More than 200 members of the national and international media were on hand for the announcement, which took place at the 37th annual Tianguis Turistico. Puerto Vallarta will now have a new brand that represents the city’s main tourism attractions.

Rebranding of Puerto Vallarta is a key step to continue the destination’s competitiveness and meeting the challenge of differentiating itself from other domestic and international destinations which saturate the tourism business.

Accoridng to a release, “for Puerto Vallarta it is clear that this is a perfect time to raise awareness so it has worked on the process of developing the new brand positioning, a job that took almost 10 weeks of work.”

For the redesigning of the logo, an analysis of images and color was done to compare the brands of leading domestic and international destinations to Puerto Vallarta’s,which concluded that overall brands have the following characteristics: a rainbow (to show the diversity of the destination), use of specific colors that refer to qualities of the place, use of an icon that references the destination and logos that are completely typographic in nature with reference to the destination's tourism products (fun, culture, peace, diversity, etc.).

Based on international trends, a new logo was created taking into account existant logos and fonts that are currently being used in brands, keeping in mind that some trends can go out of fashion and that brands should remain unchanged for long periods of time.
