Samayoa Named Guatemala Tourism Director

Dr. Jorge Samayoa is the new director of the Guatemala Tourism Board (INGUAT), according to an announcement from the organization on Tuesday. Samayoa replaced Roberto Robles, who departed in November.

Samayoa joined INGUAT on November 17. He will be in charge of implementing current and new promotional strategies for Guatemala's tourism industry. His goal is to have 2 million visitors come to Guatemala by the end of 2010.

Samayoa has worked for 10 years in the Guatemalan tourism industry, leading tourism planning boards and projects. He has focused on tourism security and been the advisor to the Board of Guatemalan Hotel Security for the past seven years. Samayoa graduated from San Carlos University in Guatemala and has studied at Harvard Business School.
