The San Juan Marriott recently unveiled its newly renovated lobby lounge, renamed the Red Coral Lounge. Renovations, which began on August 1, were completed December 9, with an official grand opening celebration planned for January 14.
Renovations over the past four years have turned the iconic landmark resort into a chic, cosmopolitan destination.
The lobby’s bar, traditionally the focal point of the hotel, will remain the central area of the new lobby, surrounded by individualized “zones” that allow for both socialization and intimate conversation.
Sleek metal accents, vibrant colors, and modern textures will highlight deep wood finishes and rich earth tones, creating an atmosphere of warmth and opulence where guests can relax to the Latin rhythms of a live band or enjoy a signature cocktail.
The resort lobby incorporates designs from the island’s top local artists and sculptors, allowing the metropolitan space to combine a fresh, modern feel with Puerto Rico’s rich, local culture.
The lobby renovations complete the San Jan Marriott’s extensive overhaul of its property that included a $35 million investment in upgrading its guest rooms in 2007 and a $2 million makeover of the resort’s restaurants, La Vista Latin Grill and La Isla Grill and Pool Bar, earlier this year.
