Onboard the Lady Sandals at Chelsea's Pier in New York City, Travel Agent learned that Sandals Resorts International will open its first-ever non-all-inclusive resort in  Kingston, Jamaica by the 2012-2013 season.

"The business-oriented hotel will be 250 rooms and construction will take 18-20 months," says CEO Adam Stewart. Stewart says the decision to open in Kingston, which is not exactly a typical Sandals destination, was due to demand. "We constantly have people coming up to us and saying, 'We need to be in Kingston, but there is no where to stay there.' "

There is currently one other notable property in Kingston— the Spanish Court Hotel, which opened in June. With Sandals' presence, Kingston may soon see a surge in property development.
