Singapore on Track for Strong 2006

Singapore's tourism industry set another monthly record in July for visitor arrivals, according to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), which says the industry is on track to surpass its 2005 numbers. In July, for example, arrivals set a new July record of 913,000, and average occupancy also reached a new high of 91 percent. These tallies build on the tourism industry's performance during the first half of the year. The STB anticipates that its 2006 target of 9.4 million visitor arrivals will be met because of the potential represented by the school holiday months of July, August and December, as well as the Singapore 2006 meetings taking place in September.
