On Site: Sandals Continues to Revamp

Sandals Negril// (c) 2011 Sandals

As part of our coverage of the 21st annual Jamaica Product Exchange (JAPEX), Travel Agent met with Sandals' Senior VP of Sales Gary Sadler and Senior Vice President, Tour Operator Marketing & Sales Development Warren Cohen.

According to both Sadler and Cohen, Sandals is still in the process of heavily renovating its resorts across the Caribbean. In Jamaica alone, Beaches Negril is in the process of renovating 54 rooms which will come online in October, and another 54 slated to come online in December. The renovations are entire gut renovations, not just soft furnishings.

In addition, Sandals Grande Ocho Rios has invested $40 million into its first phase of renovation. Every room is going through revitalization. In addition, the property has added seven new or completely redone restaurants, bringing the total number of dining options to 15.

Moving outside of Jamaica, Sandals Royal Bahamian is redoing the 144 rooms in its Manor block. The resort will also have new fire pits and a new pool deck.

Finally, Beaches Turks & Caicos is experiencing a soft renovation. Its rooms will receive new furnishings and a new paint job.
