South Africa Garners Media Buzz From Whitaker Tour

South Africa tourism will get a boost in the media when Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker and his family touch down later this week, in a visit being billed as a "goodwill tour." Whittaker will join in the nationwide celebration of Freedom Day, a national holiday commemorating South Africa's first post-apartheid, democratic elections in 1994, when Nelson Mandela was elected President. In addition to visiting Cape Town, Whitaker will also spend time in the coastal city of Durban, familiar to most tourism officials as the site of the annual Africa tourism trade fair, Indaba. Whitaker's two-week tour is being sponsored by South African Tourism and South African Airways.
