South Korea to Host 2018 Winter Olympics

The year 2018 may seem a ways down the road, but when you are planning on hosting the Olympics, 2018 seems just around the corner. It was announced this week that the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

South Korea, which has hosted the Summer Olympics once, built its candidacy for 2018 on a proposal to expand winter sports in the Asian market. It offered up an extravagant $1.5 billion budget bid for the actual Games and $2 billion to $6 billion for infrastructure projects.
