Choosing from 50 beaches, Family Travel Forum staff looked at cleanliness, safety, sand quality, water depth, water temperature and facilities when narrowing down their selection that excludes any affected by the oil spill.
California and Hawaii take the cake, with Dana Point Baby Beach in Dana Point and Mission Bay Park in San Diego, and Poipu Beach in Kauai and Baby Beach in Maui.Up north are Sleeping Bear Dunes in Empire, Michigan and Whitefish Dunes State Park in Wisconsin.
On the East Coast are First Encounter Beach in Eastham, Massachusetts, Bethany Beach in Delaware and Flying Beach Point in Southhampton, New York. Finally, more south are Clearwater Beach in Florida, Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet and McGee and Corpus Christi Beaches in Texas.
