This past Friday Universal Orlando celebrated the launch of its Halloween Horror Nights event, now in its 25th year.

Jack the Clown has returned as the event's main icon, along with a large cast of monsters. This year's attractions include "Freddy vs. Jason," scenes from the fifth season of AMC's "The Walking Dead," pieces inspired by the "Insidious" film series, the masked vigilantes of "The Purge,"  and the werewolves of "An American Werewolf in London" (one of the top-rated haunted houses in Horror Nights history, according to Universal). Additionally, Universal is offering four original haunted houses, including Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem; Body Collectors: Recollections; RUN: Blood, Sweat and Fears; and Asylum in Wonderland – 3D.

During the event, the streets of Universal Studios Florida are transformed into five "scare zones" with main character actors and hordes of chainsaw-wielding assassins.

Halloween Horror Nights will run for 30 select nights through November 1.
