“Waikiki Parc strives to engage with the community by participating in such valuable initiatives,” said General Manager Julie Arigo in a written release.  “The opportunity to continue a partnership with the University is an ideal platform by which to support the arts, allowing guests to enjoy a truly unique experience on a local level.”

Bamboo Forest is a reflection of Huang’s personal narratives and experiences.  In reference to this overall theme, she states “each ceramic bamboo culm represents my relationships with significant people who have influenced me throughout my life.”  Ultimately, Huang’s art will provide guests with insight into her own journey of self-discovery, and serve as a commentary on the human form and condition.

With her anticipated graduation in December 2013, Ashley Huang brings an accomplished background in sculpture to her recognition as this quarter’s Waikiki Parc exhibitor.  She has completed a variety of commission projects, participated in numerous group exhibitions, and served as a teaching assistant at a local high school; now, her exhibition serves as a notable experience for Waikiki Parc guests during their stay.
