For January 2014 Whistler has announced the return of a major LGBT event and new tours in the Canadian ski destination.
LGBT event Whister WinterPRIDE is back for 2014. This year the event will take place earlier than usual, from from January 26 to February 2.
This year's event will offer a welcome reception, apres parties and get-togethers and plenty of skiing. The full schedule of events is available here.
TAG Dinner Tours
Catered by Whistler's Bearfoot Bistro, with only 10 guests per sitting, this tour by The Adventure Group starts with a ride in a heated snowCAT up, up and away. After dinner fly through the dark as you soar back to the valley below on four side-by-side ziplines. These are Canada's longest ziplines, at well over a kilometre long and 600 feet above the ground. Watch a video of the tour above.

Farther afield, China has just announced plans for a big new mountain resort. Near the city of Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, the extensive development will be built into a disused cement-mining quarry pit and lake and at its core will feature an as-yet-unnamed, 270-suite five-star hotel.
