Oberammergau Postponed; Globus Offers Help for Affected Guests

Oberammergau Passion Play performances have been postponed until 2022. For travelers affected by this postponement, the Globus family of brands – consisting of Globus, Cosmos, Avalon Waterways and Monograms – has enacted a policy to enable all guests with 2020 Oberammergau bookings the opportunity to be the first to reserve their spots for 2022 at the current price, when performances resume. The company said it expects to offer new dates to travelers by May 2020.

The Oberammergau Passion Play is a world-famous passion play that has been performed since 1634 by the inhabitants of the village of Oberammergau in Bavaria, Germany. The play is only staged once every 10 years, making tickets highly sought-after by travelers.

Those impacted by the Oberammergau Passion Play postponement can also choose to use the company’s Peace of Mind travel plan, which invites travelers with vacations planned through May 31, 2020 the freedom to reschedule their vacation in 2020, 2021 or 2022, to any destination, on any brand, without incurring cancellation fees.

“We recognize that travelers are faced with a great deal of uncertainty right now, and we are committed to helping them through this situation with the right options, adequate time and high levels of attention and consideration,” said Scott Nisbet, president and CEO of the Globus family of brands, in a written statement. “We are doing our best to cater to each and every traveler and help them feel confident in their decision to explore the world with us.”
