Honduras combines the best qualities of Mexico and the Caribbean with a little extra Latin America flair and culture. If your clients have been to any of those regions, they are sure to feel at home in Honduras—and here are some excellent places for them to stay:

Anthony’s Key Resort

There are 10 rooms located on a hill at Anthony’s Key Resort overlooking the lagoon. The best rooms are the secluded and romantic Key Superior Rooms, which have no TVs, radios or phones. All are Caribbean-style bungalows with floor-to-ceiling windows.

We recommend pitching this property to couples—perhaps older, more travel-savvy ones, but many of the resort’s activities could appeal to younger pairs as well.

Those activities range from snorkeling to diving to ziplining. Here, guests can snorkel with dolphins; dive with them in the open sea, accompanied by a dolphin behaviorist and videographer; become a trainer for a day; or enroll in a dolphin specialty course.

Infinity Bay Spa & Resort, located in Roatan, a Central America divers' haven

Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, Roatan is a haven for divers, snorkelers, fishermen and beach lovers. Just steps from the door of Infinity Bay Spa & Beach Resort is a powdery white, sandy beach that leads to the unusual underwater gardens.

Infinity Bay offers a huge menu of activities for couples and families—yet at the same time, it is one of the most relaxing beach resorts in Central America.

Agents should contact Cynthia Anderson, marketing manager, at 011-504-445-5016 or e-mail [email protected].

Laguna Beach Resort

Laguna Beach Resort is a rustically elegant island resort located on Utila, the smallest and most unspoiled of the Bay Islands of Honduras. Laguna Beach’s palm-fringed peninsula sits atop a fringing coral reef dividing a mangrove lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. Its location makes this resort a diver’s paradise. The private beach, whale shark-shaped pool, kayaks and complimentary horseback riding are perfect for soft adventurers.

Although Laguna Beach offers a few different room types, the individual bungalow with king bed is the most popular for couples. This accommodation type offers a private porch and is tucked into beautiful island landscapes.

Hotel Marina Copan

Founded in 1946, Hotel Marina Copan has recently renovated the original section of the hotel. This area has an architectural “of-the-house” style, mainly with Spanish Colonial influence, ceramic tiles, wide local mud-brick walls, rustic wooden beams and structural details.

The renovated Executive Suite at Hotel Marina Copan retains the classic look and feel of the historic hotel

The renovation created rooms with more space, fully appointed bathrooms with Jacuzzis, top-of-the-line amenities and special noise/weather isolation (soundproof windows), all while preserving the original look and overall atmosphere.

Lighting of this section was redesigned as well, to enhance the warm and cozy ambiance. Hotel Marina Copan, the original Hotel from Copan Ruins, has been in operation since the early years of the first archaeological explorations at the Copan Maya Site. The hotel has been the choice for scholars, archaeologists, presidents, royalty and members of the jet set. In fact, Queen Sophia from Spain, Princess Sayako from Japan, several presidents from Latin America and actor Richard Gere have all stayed at Hotel Marina. We were told the best rooms are the Hotel Marina Copan Premium Rooms.
