Accor Announces the Opening of Sofitel Barú Calablanca

Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort made its debut on December 1, becoming the third and most recent project of Accor’s luxury brand, Sofitel, in Colombia. Located 25 minutes from Cartagena and separated by the Dique Canal, the country’s first luxury beach destination, has 187 rooms, including a presidential suite and 22 other suites, all with balconies and terraces facing the Caribbean Sea.

Culinary options include Calablanca Restaurant and Bar, which serves traditional Colombian and Mediterranean cuisines accompanied by "ancestral" techniques and farm-to-table ingredients; the dinner-only Humo Restaurant and Bar with a robata grill concept inspired by Japanese, Chinese, Thai, French and Peruvian cuisines; the Lobby Lounge, which offers classic spirits; La Pérgola, the resort’s rooftop terrace bar; and three poolside bars.

With more than 60 species of coral and an on-site nursery that cultivates native species and plants from the region, Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort is committed to environmental sustainability and balances its architectural design with nature.

Resort amenities include a spa with sauna, Turkish bath and yoga room, besides a convention center and children’s club. The resort also offers immersive experiences such as braid and sombrero workshops, music classes and local artist exhibits. Recreational activities include paddle and snorkeling experiences, scuba diving, bicycle tours, ecological walking tours, bioluminescent plankton outings and catamaran tours.
