AMResorts to Open First Puerto Rico All-Inclusive, Aruba Over-Water Bungalows

After years of rumors that AMResorts was looking to expand to Puerto Rico and become the destination’s only all-inclusive resort, the company inked a deal late last year to build a Dreams Resort in Guanica, Puerto Rico.

And now Travel Agent has some more details.

As part of our ongoing coverage of Classic Vacations’ STAR Performer event at Dreams Playa Mujeres in Mexico, we got the skinny on AMResort’s plans for Puerto Rico as well as a new Zoetry Resort in Aruba that will include the company’s first-ever over-the-water bungalows.

In fact, all of the roughly 130 rooms at the Aruba resort will be over-the-water bungalows, says Susan Lang, AMResorts’ regional sales manager for the Northeast.

“We are already getting so much interest from people who are looking to buy out the entire resort for weddings,” Lang told us.

Lang told us the Aruba resort will open in 2019 while the Dreams Resort in Puerto Rico will open around 2018.

“It’s been rumored for years,” Lang says about the company’s plans to set up shop in Puerto Rico, “and now we can finally says it’s happening and we are very excited about that.”

Dreams Puerto Rico Resort will be located 73 miles southwest of San Juan and 21 miles west of the city of Ponce and will have 250 rooms.

It is also minutes away from Guanica Dry Forest, a UNESCO-designated world biosphere reserve and located directly offshore from the where “Gilligan’s Island” was filmed.
