Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences Opens in Los Cabos

Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences has just opened its doors, bringing a new contemporary luxury property to Los Cabos. Managed by Auberge Resorts Collection, the resort complements Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, which is nearby in Punta Ballena in Cabo San Lucas.

Offering 60 guest rooms and 32 two-, three-, and four-bedroom villas, Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences is well-suited for couples, groups, and families. Accommodations are lit via floor-to-ceiling windows that create a feel of being outdoors, most offering views of the Sea of Cortez. Guest rooms also have private terraces with either ocean, beach, pool or garden views. Bathrooms have freestanding soaking bathtubs, though outdoors guests will find private outdoor showers. The resort’s villas are equipped with home-style comforts, including gourmet kitchens, indoor and outdoor living spaces, terraces with plunge pools and hot tubs. In-room amenities include a welcome cocktail prepared fresh in-room upon arrival, a variety of artisanal bath products, complimentary refreshments and Wi-Fi.

Glazier Le Architects and interior designer BAMO are responsible for creating the resort’s décor, featuring clean lines, natural wood and hand cut stone accents, fused with a variety of traditional Mexican design elements. The resort's surrounding landscape was designed by master planners Girvin & Associates, created to reflect the natural beauty and diversity of coastal Baja.

The new resort is set on Chileno Bay, which is considered to be one of the best swimming beaches in Los Cabos. Guests are greeted by an open air passageway that leads to panoramic views of the beach and bay. A 450 foot long swimming pool resembles a river within the resort and has a three-tiered infinity edge that cascades through the center of the property. Private poolside cabanas provide guests the opportunity for some alone time, though guests can also head to the H20 Watersports Activity Cave for snorkeling gear, glass-bottomed kayaks and other water sport equipment.

On site, guests will also find a number of culinary concepts inspired by Mexican favorites and the regional cuisines of Latin America. COMAL is the resort’s signature restaurant, incorporating a three-tiered open-air space designed by Gulla Jonsdottir Architecture + Design. Run by Chef Yvan Mucharraz, an alum of The French Laundry and L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, the menu has entrees including crispy octopus with hazelnut mole; steamed sweet potato-wrapped snapper with clams; braised short rib with cacao broth, chilhuacle, roasted corn and chayote, among others. A raw bar in the restaurant’s center serves locally caught wild seafood in a live-action setting, serving oysters, clams, and ceviche and sashimi style tiraditos. Osvaldo Vasquez will be overseeing the beverage program at Chileno Bay, serving up tacos and tequila at TnT bar on the resort’s sand.

Other amenities of the property include the world-class Auberge Spa at Chileno Bay, where guests can enjoy 10 indoor and outdoor treatment facilities, a Purification Garden, a reflexology pool, salt inhalation room, ice fountain, salon services and more.

For meetings, the resort offers more than 13,000 square feet of flexible event space, and for kids, the resort offers an activity center complete with a kids club. Also in the activity center include two movie theaters, a game lawn and a fitness center, which offers signature group fitness and wellness programs.
