The Cool Pool of the Week: Belle Mont Farm in St. Kitts

Millennials who have been there and done that in the Caribbean might like to take a dip at a hotel that is a bit out of the box compared to most hotels in the region.

Meet Belle Mont Farm, a haven for health and wellness and just about anything else that encourages a cleaner lifestyle both during and after your stay in St. Kitts

This is not for the first-time Caribbean traveler, since there is no beach here (although shuttles can be provided to the nearest one).

But enough about potential deterrents and let's get to the hotel’s coolest pools.

At Belle Mont Farm, there is the main pool, plus many of the cottages have their own private plunge pool. These are all infinity edge with views over the Caribbean Sea, including glimpses of the island of St. Eustatius and, further in the background, Saba.

As the property sits on the mountainside just below the 1,000-foot elevation above which all St. Kitts’ rainforest is protected as a national park, the views are impressive, particularly at sunset, which occurs just west of Saba.

Aside from the main pool and those at the cottages, the 100-foot-long infinity edge pool at The Farmhouse is frequently used for private events, especially weddings.

The Farmhouse are separate accommodations that can host between four couples and eight guests, each a short stroll across a private footbridge or through the trees from a grand central living pavilion with a professional kitchen.

The main pool has a swim-up bar that offers cocktails and small bites. The signature cocktail is the rum punch made with local rum, but you will never get the recipe. Why? All establishments in St. Kitts compete with each other for who makes the best rum punch, so none will tell you their particular secret to making it.

Aside from rum and some combination of fruit juices, the drink is topped with fresh nutmeg and garnished with a cherry.

At Belle Mont Farm, the ingredients are always fresh because a 90 percent of provisions for their dining outlets are sourced from its own 400-acre organic, sustainable farm and surrounding farms in St. Kitts and Nevis working closely with nearby farmers and expert foragers.
