The Cool Pool of the Week: Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel

Millennials looking for a new pool to take a plunge in during a warm Washington, D.C. vacation should check out the digs at the Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel.

The pool is located at The Rooftop at Mason & Rook, a stylish urban rooftop hangout area overlooking the city. The pool is heated and the lights even change color throughout the evening. It’s four feet at its deepest point.

The Rooftop, which launched in summer 2016, includes the pool, contemporary chaises for pool-side lounging, a funky drink menu, light fare and impressive views of the District’s iconic skyline.

Agents should note that the rooftop pool area is available for relaxed, private events catered by Radiator, a cocktail bar and neighborhood gathering place with contemporary American small plates with global influences.

The pool/rooftop is not open to locals and it is open to guests from 8 a.m to 4 p.m., but the bar is open to everyone around from about 5 p.m. to closing (which is usually around 11 p.m.).

The new 178-room hotel Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel is located along D.C.’s lively 14th Street corridor, one of the capital’s most stylish destinations. The hotel also includes a newly constructed 1,700-square-foot ballroom.

The hotel also offers other creative amenities from yoga mats in each room to a hosted wine hour and complimentary bikes. In-room spa services are also provided for Millennials looking to be pampered in doors. It is also a 15-minute walk from the White House and its adjacent Lafayette Square proves a great place to people watch or enjoy a picnic lunch picked up along the way.

Beyond a White House visit, Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel’s proximity to the McPherson Square Metro station also makes the Smithsonian museums and most of the city’s iconic buildings and monuments easily accessible.
