Eden Rock St Barts Pushes Back Post-Hurricane Reopening

The Oetker Collection’s Eden Rock – St Barts has pushed back its post-hurricane reopening date to this December. This past October, shortly after hurricanes Irma, Maria and Jose had struck the destination, resort officials had told Travel Agent that the reopening was planned for this summer.

According to the latest update from the resort, the property will undergo a renovation project ahead of the reopening that will add a number of additional facilities. Led by architecture and interior design studio Martin Brudnizki, the Sand Bar main restaurant will be refreshed with a colonial vibe and laid-back beach styling. Villa Nine will be entirely remodeled with a tropical-inspired aesthetic incorporating bold artwork and contrasting materials, including patterned linen, statement onyx and a coral and green color palette. The renovations will also include the redesign of three more cottages, drawing inspiration from the beach landscape surrounding the resort.

“It was important for us to keep the unique spirit and vibe that has always been part of Eden Rock – St Barths,” said Eden Rock – St Barths General Manager Fabrice Moizan in a written statement. “The internationally-acclaimed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio understands our DNA, and the redesigned spaces will reflect both our soul and the new Eden Rock.”

Since the powerful category 5 hurricanes struck St Barts last year, the island has been continuing to rebuild its tourism sector. According to the latest updates from the Territorial Tourism Committee of St. Barts, the Hotel Manapany By B Signature Hotels & Resorts is set to reopen this March, while beachfront resorts like Le Guanahani and Le Barthelemy are projecting reopenings later this year.

Some smaller properties, such as Le Village St Barths Hotel and Salines Garden Cottages, have already reopened. Other currently open properties include Tom Beach Hotel, Les Ilets de la Plage, Hotel Le P’tit Morne Saint Barthelemy, Baie des Anges Hotel & Suites Flamands Beach St. Barth, Auberge De La Petite Anse, Fleur de Lune St Barth, Presqui’ile St Barth, Les Ondines, Hotel Villa Lodge 4 Epices, Le Nid d’Aigle St Barth and Les Sucriers St Barth.
