Ellenborough Park Hotel in England Announces Renovation

Ellenborough Park Hotel has announced a renovation project that is well underway and set for completion in March 2023, ready for the Gold Cup Race Festival, a key date for the team at Ellenborough when a loyal racing guest list will return. This 15th-century English country estate and luxury spa is set in 90 acres of parkland just a short stroll away from the Cheltenham Racecourse on the edge of the Cotswolds.

The renovation project includes bedroom updates and a revamped brasserie. The designs have been created by South African-born local designer Ilze Reinke. All 61 bedrooms of the country house hotel are being refurbished. Some bedrooms will be completely redesigned, while others will be extensively updated. Since the historic building features rooms of different shapes and sizes, each room tells a different story.

Reinke is reusing as much as she can—for instance, the wallpaper in one room, or the lighting in another. In these, she adds new textures and colors in complimentary fabrics and paintworks, aiming to refresh the room rather than starting from scratch, all the while aiming to be as environmentally sensitive as possible.

At the heart of the hotel is the Horse Box, the brasserie. It has undergone a complete transformation with soft leather brocades, low lighting, tartan flooring, and countryside tweed fabrics.

Marwan Hemchaoui, general manager of Ellenborough Park Hotel, said “Planning of this project began long before the pandemic, so it feels even more special to fulfill now. We are very proud of Ellenborough’s growth over the past few years, and these new bedrooms are a fitting celebration of our 10-year anniversary.”
