Fairmont Doubles Up in Cairo

When the Fairmont Heliopolis in Cairo opens in the summer of 2007, it will be Fairmont's first operating property in the city, but soon after it will have company. The Fairmont Nile City, currently under construction, is slated to open in early 2008, giving the Toronto-based hotelier two flags in the up-and-coming tourist region. "We are pleased to offer our guests a second destination in Cairo, an important business and tourism destination in Egypt," said William Fatt, Fairmont's CEO. In addition to the two Fairmont branded hotels, the company is set to take over management of the Sheraton Heliopolis, adjacent to the Fairmont Heliopolis. Fairmont said it would rename the property, Hotel Heliopolis.
