Fire at New York’s Trump International Hotel Caused by Machinery

A fire broke out in one of the residences at the Trump International Hotel on New York’s Columbus Circle early Friday morning.

Authorities told CBS News that the fire began in an apartment on the 47th floor that was still under construction at around 4:12 a.m. when a piece of machinery malfunctioned. The building was partially evacuated before the fire was brought under control at around 5:20 a.m., after which the upper floors were vented to prevent a buildup of carbon monoxide. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

The hotel also offers butler service, as well as pet-friendly programming through the Trump Pets service, which offers in-room dining for pets, a water bowl and fresh bottled water, toys, a pet bed, walking services and a map of the city highlighting dog-friendly parks. For families traveling with children, there is also a children’s room service menu, child-friendly spa treatments, nanny services for an additional fee, swim lessons, cribs, bed rails, rollaway beds, board games, children’s books, and an in-suite children’s movie channel for an additional fee.
