First Look: New York's Eventi Hotel

Yesterday, March 10, Travel Agent donned a hard hat and went to take a look at New York City's Eventi, A Kimpton Hotel, which is in its construction phase and slated to open on May 15. We were shown around by Thomas Mathes, Eventi's general manager.

Upon completion the hotel will feature 292 rooms, including 53 suites. We took a look at #618, a Standard King room. (Note: All rooms offer either a queen- or king-sized bed.) All rooms and suites feature LCD flat screen televisions, iHomes, wireless phone hand sets, complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary morning newspaper, honor bar selections, and 24-hour in-room dining.

We learned that the best suites in the house will be the Eventi Suites. These will have two full bathrooms, a dining area, living area and wrap-around terrace. The next best rooms are the Junior Suites. While they are smaller than the Eventi Suites, their master bathrooms will make up for it. These five-fixture bathrooms will offer 200 square feet of space.

The hotel is very tech-friendly, incorporating the latest trends into its design. Guests can download an iPhone app, for no additional charge, that can be used to order room service or for other needs. The dining/lounge facilities will also be outfitted with iPod touches so that patrons can order drinks with the push of a button.

Eventi will offer two dining options. Its main restaurant will be for guests only, but its casual dining option, Food Parc, will be an indoor and outdoor food and beverage market.

Adding to the New York community, Eventi is constructing a public outdoor plaza, with seating for both locals and guests to enjoy. The highlgiht of the plaza will be a 20-foot wide multi-media art screen to be used for public and private events.

Available to guests only, Eventi will feature a fitness center with 1,000 square feet of space as well as a spa with three treatment rooms.

With ample meeting space, Eventi will be a destination for business travelers, social events and more.

Stay tuned for more Eventi updates.
