Halekulani to Host Exclusive Wine Event on March 15

Halekulani, a luxury hotel on Oahu, has announced it will host an exclusive wine event featuring Geoff Labitzke, who is visiting from Kistler Vineyards and Occidental. Labitzke is one of only 369 Masters of Wine in the world.

On March 15 at 6 p.m. Halekulani invites guests to its Orchids restaurant for a evening exploring the wines of Kistler Vineyards and Occidental and gaining insight into the diverse world of wine from an expert in the field.

For 40 years, Kistler Vineyards has been an established winery and has perfected crafting world class wines from select California vineyard sites. Kistler has been committed to utilizing “old world” techniques while carefully refining the style of their wines.

There will be an impressive lineup of world-class wines for the evening, which will be paired with an original Mediterranean-inspired menu created by Orchids chef de cuisine Christian Testa.

Before being seated for the four-course dinner event, guests will clear their palates with a glass of a Kistler Chardonnay “Les Noisetiers” from 2016. Dinner starts with a Tartare Santa Margherita, a Kahuku Shrimp Tartare, and Peach-Mango “Mojo” paired with a Kistler Chardonnay “McCrea Vineyard” from 2015.

The second course will be a Branzino alla Venezia Mantecato, a Hawaiian Sea Bass Venice style, with Polenta and Creamy Truffle delicately paired with a Kistler Pinot Noir “Kistler Vineyard” from 2014.

Guests will then be served Vitello all Uccelletto, Strips of Veal, Kalamata Olives, Pine nuts, and Italia Zucchini with two Occidental Pinot Noirs, “Cuvée Catherine” and “Cuvée Elizabeth,” both from 2015.

For the final course, guests will enjoy a Tagliere di Formaggi, an array of Imported Cheeses, Homemade Chutney, and Truffle, complemented by Honey Caramelized Walnuts. The four-course dinner and wine pairing menu is priced at $143 with the addition of tax and gratuity. Seating is limited.
