Hilton Expands Presence in Brazil With Rio Grande do Sul Opening

Hilton has announced its expansion into southern Brazil with the opening of Hilton Porto Alegre—the first Hilton hotel in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The 170-room property is owned by Pateo Moinhos de Vento Administração e Participações Ltda, a Zaffari group company, and managed by Hilton. It is located in the Moinhos de Vento neighborhood and offers several dining, shopping and entertainment options nearby.

Hilton Porto Alegre—which has operated as a Sharaton hotel—has a refreshed lobby, lounge area and bar. The hotel will undergo a complete renovation of all areas including its guestrooms and suites, which all have a dedicated work area, lush bedding and flat-screen TVs. For recreation, the hotel has a rooftop fitness center, sauna and indoor heated pool with views of the city. The property also has two on-site restaurants, where guests can enjoy both international cuisine and Brazilian flavors.

Located only three miles from Porto Alegre International Airport, Hilton Porto Alegre is geared toward both business and leisure travelers. The hotel is located across from Moinhos Shopping mall, a short walk from Moinhos de Vento Park, and is five miles from the historic downtown, where guests can visit the Catedral Metropolitana, besides other attractions.

Hilton currently has a portfolio of nearly 180 hotels and resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America, with over 10 properties welcoming guests in Brazil, including the recently opened Almenat Embu das ArtesTapestry Collection by Hilton and Canopy by Hilton São Paulo Jardins—both representing brand debuts in South America. Hilton continues to pursue additional growth opportunities in the Caribbean and Latin America and currently has a pipeline of roughly 110 hotels throughout the region, including 10 projects across Brazil. These include Hilton’s plans to introduce two new brands to Brazil: Motto by Hilton and Tru by Hilton.
