Hotel Manapany on St. Barts Reopens Under New Ownership

Following a complete rebuild, the beachfront Hotel Manapany on the island of St. Barts reopened on March 13 under new ownership.

B Signature Hotels & Resorts acquired Hotel Manapany in September of 2016 and immediately closed the hotel after purchasing it to begin an extensive revamp. The Manapany is B Signature Hotels & Resorts’ first property outside of mainland France.

With only some walls retained, the public areas and guest rooms were completely rebuilt and redesigned by Parisian architectFrancois Champsaur to reflect the nature and spirit of the island. A new spa that faces the sea was also added.

The Manapany is located in Anse des Cayes, a quiet residential area of the island brimming with tropical flowers on the north coast. The 43 private villas and suites all come with either views of the sea and surrounding gardens.

The decor focuses on tropical woods, soft cottons and other natural materials in earthy tones. Furnishings are handmade, including the bright cotton rugs and cushions woven by Mexican artisans and original drawings by French artist Mayon Crayon.

The open-air, seaside restaurant and bar is led by Executive Chef Edouard Fabius. The focus is on fresh and accessible foods – emphasizing organic ingredients and mostly local produce, including fresh fish from the island, delivered daily by local fishermen.

The resort’s spa offers holistic therapies that honor the local heritage and utilize medicinal herbs while incorporating the latest modern techniques and methods. The signature bio-aesthetic care collection uses organic products from Dr. Hauschka.

Other guest facilities include a fitness center with a range of workout equipment and Pilate and Yoga classes; two swimming pools, both set near the sea with beautiful views and food and beverage service, with one reserved for adults only; and a game room with ping-pong, table soccer and video games.

A wide scope of activities can be arranged by the concierge, from snorkeling, diving and fishing to island tours and cruises to couples’ getaways to secluded beach picnic lunches.
