Kimpton Plans Hotel Monaco for Alexandria, VA

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Group plans to turn the former 227-room Holiday Inn Select in Alexandria, VA into a 241-room Hotel Monaco by mid 2007. It will be its ninth hotel in the metro-D.C. region, complete with an adjacent chef-driven restaurant. The hotel will also offer over 8,000 square feet of meeting space, including a new ballroom catered by Kimpton's restaurant. The Hotel Monaco Alexandria will be Kimpton's first hotel to open in Virginia; the Hotel Palomar at Waterview in Arlington is scheduled to open in 2008.
