IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a Kimpton-branded hotel in Madrid, located in Goya Street, 89, in partnership with El Corte Inglés. The signing, advised by Colliers Hotels Iberia, marks the brand’s debut in Madrid and a significant step forward in IHG’s continued luxury and lifestyle growth in Spain.

The hotel builds on the brand’s growing presence in the country, where the Kimpton brand is already established in Barcelona, Mallorca and Marbella, and further strengthens IHG’s position in one of Europe’s most dynamic luxury hotel markets.

Expected to open in mid-2030, the 106-key hotel will be located in Barrio Salamanca, one of Madrid’s most prestigious neighborhoods, and will occupy an iconic heritage building in the heart of the city. The property is set to feature a ground-floor restaurant, spa and indoor pool, as well as a rooftop bar and restaurant overlooking Madrid and its picturesque rooftops and historical buildings.

This signing also reflects the continued evolution of the Kimpton brand as it expands its footprint in global cities, bringing its distinctly human, design-led approach to urban markets. Guided by the Kimpton brand ethos, the hotel will draw on local culture through thoughtfully curated design, programming and food and drink experiences, bringing a fresh perspective on luxury hospitality to a city defined by culture, creativity and social energy.

Willemijn Geels, vice president, development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “The signing of our first Kimpton in Madrid marks an exciting milestone for IHG as we continue to grow our luxury and lifestyle portfolio in strategic markets across Europe. Spain is a cornerstone of our European growth strategy, offering significant scale potential and strong fundamentals, and we’re delighted to partner with El Corte Inglés on this exciting new hotel. Madrid has firmly established itself as one of Europe’s most compelling destinations for luxury travel, and this exceptional hotel will give guests a distinctive new way to experience the city through Kimpton’s bold design, heartfelt service and locally inspired experiences.”

Tourism became one of Madrid’s leading economic sectors in 2025, reaching a record €17.9 billion ($20.48 billion) in international visitor spending—up 11 percent year-on-year and 71 percent versus 2019, according to National Institute of Statistics (INE). Situated near the city’s upscale shopping, dining and cultural hotspots, the hotel is ideally positioned to capture this growing demand from both domestic and international travelers.

The addition of IHG’s Kimpton brand in Madrid reinforces IHG’s ambition to expand its luxury and lifestyle footprint in sought-after gateway cities across Europe. With 116 open and 68 pipeline properties in IHG's luxury and lifestyle portfolio across Europe, and 66 open and 16 pipeline properties across all segments in Spain (all numbers as of March 31, 2026), the signing underscores a continued momentum in one of the continent's most dynamic markets.
