Martinhal Debuts Luxury Hotel and Residences in Lisbon

Martinhal Resorts has announced the opening of Martinhal Lisbon Oriente and Martinhal Residences. The luxury riverside hotel and residences located in Lisbon’s Park of Nations neighborhood marks a new milestone for the Martinhal brand, which is known for its collection of family hotels and resorts in Portugal. A new level of design and service has been imagined by the brand’s founders, Chitra and Roman Stern, who welcome guests to their first hotel and branded residences development in Portugal’s capital city.

Martinhal Lisbon Oriente has 82 hotel accommodations ranging from studios to one-, two- and three-bedroom suites plus self-catered apartments, all fully outfitted with such amenities as kitchens with smart appliances, Portuguese porcelain tableware, fridges, dishwashers, washer/dryers and separate living spaces. Additionally, there are 70 Martinhal Residences, including a collection of seven penthouse apartments, affording views of the Tagus River and the neighboring park.

Visitors will have access to a 24/7 front desk, a family and baby concierge, an indoor and outdoor heated swimming pool, a fitness center, a children’s club offering a range of activities, and Terrace Café Bar Restaurant, the hotel’s signature eatery. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and à la carte dining, with dishes inspired by the Middle East, India and Japan.

Sustainably designed, the building’s architecture was commissioned by Portuguese architect Eduardo Capinha Lopes, who built a modern green façade in a prime position in the Park of Nations. Green areas and expansive terrace gardens have been planted with olive trees, while the abundance of greenery and light throughout aims to improve the building’s thermal performance, protecting it from heat, reducing energy consumption and noise pollution. A nod to the creative local art scene, guests will find iconic pieces throughout the property by some of Portugal’s top artists.

The hotel’s prime location in the contemporary, riverside neighborhood of the Park of Nations, set in the new northeast part of Lisbon, is known for its avant-garde architecture, restaurants and bars, riverside walks and street art displays. Some of the city’s popular family attractions include the Oceanarium, the Science Museum and the cable car Telecabine Lisboa. The destination also hosts concerts and performances; Madonna and Andrea Bocelli will be performing at the Altice Arena in 2023. The hotel is a short drive or metro ride from Lisbon’s historic center, and a five-minute drive from the airport.
