New B&B Concept in Paris: My Home for You

With the advent of Airbnb, many traditional B&B’s have fallen by the wayside or have become outdated. My Home for You is a new concept in home stays, a cross between a luxury hotel and upscale Airbnb, accommodating guests with a personal touch.

Owner Jean Etienne Rousseau has taken over an 1840’s pre-Haussmann four-bedroom apartment, a former lawyers office, doing a floor to ceiling renovation. Located near the Grand Boulevards, the location, close to the Paris passages, Drouot auction house, Palais Royal, Opera area and Galeries Lafayette, is ideal for business people and tourists.

Four suites, each with a unique design, are named after nearby attractions- Guimet, Palais Royal, Trocadero and Grand Boulevards. Compared to most Paris hotel rooms, the suites at My Home for you, ranging from the smallest at 205 square feet to the largest at 310 square feet, are about double the size and about a third less in price, ranging from 165€to 295€ per room, according to the time of the year. The rates are less for multiple night stays. The largest suite, The Guimet, is named after the Asian arts museum of Paris and decorated in accents of red, along with antiques from Vietnam and Cambodia. It also provides a sofa that converts to a bed.

All suites include free Wi-Fi, flatscreen televisions, curtains with blackout liners and modern Italian style bathrooms.

Rousseau has furnished many of the rooms with objets, antiques and furniture from his personal collection, including a signed Mies van de Rohe chaise, Vernet engravings, and Baccarat bottles from the 1920s, which his grandfather created. A beloved family heirloom, two portraits of his great grandparents in gold oval frames from the 1860's adorn the wall of the main salon.

The handsome salon, with a vanilla colored sofa, club chairs, built-in floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a gold framed classic French mirror, also has a dining table used for breakfast. Served daily from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, breakfast is tea or coffee, organic yogurts, homemade jams and cakes, croissants, selection of cured meats and traditional French countryside cheese, as well as seasonal fruits is served on Limoges china, along with Christofle and Flamant flatware.

One advantage of staying at My Home for You is the fact that Rousseau lives in separate quarters on the premises and is available for any needs his guests require. Before he started My Home for You, Rousseau worked in the French tourism industry for over twenty years and knows Paris inside and out. He is happy to assist clients in planning itineraries and suggesting activities for no extra charge. He can also do it in advance by email before the client arrives.

The entire apartment can be made private, which is perfect for families and small groups, and a private chef can be provided to cook lunch or dinner.
