Orbitz.com Will Become Main Travel Booking Partner for AOL Travel

Orbitz Worldwide has signed a multi-year agreement for Orbitz.com to become AOL Travel’s primary travel booking partner.

Starting in January 2012, those who visit AOL Travel will be able to book vacation packages, flights, hotels, rental cars, cruises and more on Orbitz.com. Cheaptickets.com, Orbitz.com and Away.com will also feature exclusive AOL Travel guides and have access to travel-themed content from AOL Travel, HuffPost Travel, and Gadling. Editorial content will be available on destination pages and in emails.

Chris Orton, president of Orbitz.com, said, “Orbitz Worldwide is excited to partner with AOL Travel and provide AOL Travel visitors with access to the broad range of travel products and services available on Orbitz.com, including the protection of our groundbreaking Price Assurance program.  We expect this partnership to grow the Orbitz.com customer base as we provide AOL users access to great travel deals and a wide variety of destinations and supplier choices. The addition of AOL's compelling content will also add significant scope and more engaging destination content for customers across the Orbitz Worldwide family of brands.”

Jared Smith, general manager, travel at Huffington Post Media Group, said, “As a one-stop-shop for travel news, inspiration, research and purchasing, it is important for us to partner with a top notch travel booking site and Orbitz.com will provide our users with an industry-leading experience. Given its reliability, breadth and quality, Orbitz.com is the ideal booking partner for AOL Travel. We're also excited to provide our high quality content to the Orbitz Worldwide family of brands to enhance their customer offering.”

Orbitz.com is one of the largest online travel sites in the world and includes such programs as Price Assurance, where if another Orbitz customer books the same hotel or flight for less than you did, then you will receive a check for the difference.
