Outrigger Buys Honua Kai From Alterra

Outrigger Hotels and Resorts reports that it has acquired Honua Kai Resort & Spa’s on-site resort rental program interests from affiliates of Alterra Mountain Company. Outrigger said that the move highlights its commitment to increasing and enhancing its global portfolio, which includes 37 owned and/or managed hotels, resorts and vacation condominiums in Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand, Guam, Mauritius and the Maldives.

Honua Kai is a 38-acre oceanfront condo resort on Maui’s Ka`anapali North Beach, with studio, one, two and three-bedroom suites, as well as concierge service, the Ho`ola Spa and Duke’s Beach House restaurant. The resort is expanding with a build-out of 72 luxury townhomes, scheduled for completion in 2020. All units previously managed by Alterra Mountain Company will operate under Hawaii Vacation Condos by Outrigger, effective immediately.

Outrigger was founded in Hawaii 70 years ago. Hawaii Vacation Condos by Outrigger is its vacation rental management brand. Honua Kai Resort & Spa is now the largest Maui property in this portfolio, and it will be marketed alongside Outrigger’s hotels and resorts through its global sales and marketing network.

Between the West Maui Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Honua Kai, which can be translated from the Hawaiian language to Honua (land) and Kai (sea), has luxury suites with gourmet kitchens, complete with Bosch appliances, as well as large lanais and in-room washer and dryers. Resort guests can also enjoy the two on-site restaurants, Duke’s Beach House and `Aina Gourmet Market Café, as well as the Ho`ola Spa.
