Starwood To Develop aloft Brand in India

Starwood Hotels & Resorts will open two aloft hotels in India, as the hotel operator seeks to develop the lifestyle brand across the burgeoning country. The two hotels, aloft Bangalore, Whitefield and aloft Chennia, OMR-Sholinganallur, are both scheduled to open in 2010.

Starwood has been quick to jump on India's growing economic vibrancy, having already signed deals to develop such brands as Sheraton and Westin. Starwood's aloft brand was developed to target a new breed of traveler and fuses lifestyle with business and mixes in the DNA of W Hotels. Starwood says developers have been interested in building alofts in India and Starwood will tailor the properties to meet the needs of the Indian market. The first aloft hotels will open in the U.S. in 2008. (DE)
