Starwood to Open Second Luxury Collection Hotel in Chile

The Romanos, A Luxury Collection Resort in Costa Navarino, GreeceThis December, Starwood Hotels & Resorts' Luxury Collection will open the Villarrica Park Lake Hotel & Spa in Chile. Located 435 miles south of Santiago, in the southern Chilean Lake Region, Villarrica will join the San Cristobal Tower Hotel as the second Luxury Collection property in Chile and the seventh Starwood property in the country.

Following the signing of an agreement with Grupo Hotelera Aguas Verdes SA to manage the hotel, it will renovate the rooms and suites of the property— which is surrounded by lakes, volcanoes and mountains in the Araucanía region.

To get there, clients can take a car or plane from the Temuco Airport to the area distinguished by snow capped volcanoes, crystal clear lakes and rivers, thermal baths, ski centers and vast national parks. Those in the know will want to check out archeological remains of the Spanish colonial period blended with the influence of the "Mapuche" indigenous culture, Chile's first inhabitants.

Built in 2002, the property will feature 70 rooms and suites, meeting rooms and a 24-hour business center. Dining options include Aguas Verdes, serving both local and international cuisine and able to accommodate up to 120 guests. Views of Lake Villarrica can be seen from the restaurant, bar lounge or either of the two swimming pools. The hotel's spa features indigenous treatments, a fully equipped sauna and steam room, a fitness center and indoor/outdoor pools.
