Three Luxury Hotel Openings to Watch in Mexico for 2020 and 2021

Last year was a busy one for luxury hotels in Mexico, with new properties from brands ranging from Nobu to Montage. For 2020 and 2021, here are three openings from luxury brands travel advisors should be keeping an eye on.

One&Only Mandarina, Mexico – Opening June 2020

Virtuoso’s pick for one of the hottest hotel openings of this year, this new beachfront resort will consist of 104 standalone villas and treehouses in a jungle setting. Each accommodation will have its own private pool; plus, the property will incorporate a beach club, wellness programming and a variety of ways to explore the surrounding destination. Dining venues will run the gamut from seasonal garden-to-plate dining at The Plateau or The Point, which will serve up creative Mexican dishes in a dramatic clifftop location.

Ritz-Carlton Mexico City – Opening Summer 2020

Set in the heart of Mexico City’s financial center, The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City will occupy floors 36 to 47 of a 58-story tower, offering sweeping views of Chapultepec Park from all 153 of the hotel’s accommodations and private residences. Also planned are Ritz Carlton’s signature Club Lounge, a Mediterranean-inspired bar and restaurant and a spa, pool and fitness center.

Amanvari – Opening 2021

Another new addition to the booming scene on the Baja Peninsula, this new getaway will be part of the Costa Palmas development, like the neighboring Four Seasons property that opened this past year. With a design by Heah & Co architects, the property will comprise 20 sea-facing pavilions with private pools, decks and indoor and outdoor living spaces, plus fire pits for nighttime gatherings. The resort will also have a private beach on the Sea of Cortez, as well as an infinity pool, Jacuzzis and a library.
