Starwood's W Hotels brand announced on Thursday plans for a new hotel on The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai scheduled to open in late 2009. W Dubai-The Palm is the brand's second property in Dubai and third in the Middle East following W Dubai-Festival City and W Doha in Qatar. The 400-room hotel will be located on the Crescent section of The Palm Jumeirah, a 12-square-mile stretch of land that's in the shape of a palm tree.
