Wyndham Grand Puerto Rico to Reopen March 1 Post-Hurricane

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort has announced it will reopen on March 1 following its closure after Hurricane Maria. The oceanfront resort will reopen with a multi-million dollar renovation and refreshed spaces, including the lobby lounge. In addition, to aid the island’s recovery, one dollar of every room night booked by all guests for March and April will be donated to the El Yunque Rainforest Restoration Fund, with the goal of raising $10,000.

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort will also introduce new culinary offerings with its reopening. Executive Chef Ramon Carillo will showcase new dishes at the following culinary outlets during the resort’s re-opening:

  • Caicu Rum Bar: The resort debuts Caicu Rum Bar, a new venue serving handcrafted, rum-based cocktails, including a selection of rare private reserve batches. Following a one million dollar investment, the Caicu Rum Bar aims to serve as a spot to wind down while gazing out over the beautiful beach and vibrant reefs with a cocktail and light bites, including Mofongo Bites, Local Red Snapper Ceviche, and Puerto Rican Hummus.
  • Marbella: Marbella’s $1.2 million renovation debuts as the resort’s modern restaurant serving traditional American favorites and Caribbean specialties. A color palette of warm neutrals and rustic textures are complemented by wooden finishes and sense of the ocean, aiming to bring the feel of the surrounding nature indoors.

Additional offerings that will be available following the March reopening include: Palio, serving Italian cuisine; Hole in One, offering drinks and bites by the golf course; and the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, serving fresh salads, burgers, sandwiches and frozen concoctions poolside. Additionally, the resort’s refreshed beachfront Tiki Hut and Pool Bar will double its seating capacity to accommodate upwards of 40 guests. Also renovated and conveniently located for guest access is Barista Café, offering light meals and snacks, including coffee, pastries, sandwiches and more.

For relaxation, Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort also has secluded access to one mile of golden beaches, a 7,000-square-foot Mandara Spa and fitness center, two championship 18-hole golf courses, a casino, an international tennis center, lounges and entertainment venues.
