IHG Plans to Double China Presence by 2015

InterContinental Hotels Group is going to have an explosive presence in China over the next five years, upping their numbers to over 250 hotels.

Currently the company operates 131 hotels in the region and has another 146 planned to debut.

"This year we are opening over 30 hotels in Greater China," says IHG CEO, Andy Cosslett. "This includes seven InterContinental, seven Crowne Plaza and the debut of Hotel Indigo in an outstanding location on the Bund in the center of Shanghai."

This is great news for China's rebound, considering the impact of 2009. IHG reported a RevPAR growth for China of 22.2 percent and 27.1 percent in April.
