For years, Bali has been famous as a honeymoon destination, but to remain on top, a destination must attract more than one kind of traveler. With this basic factor in mind, the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay has begun to market to families, opening the romantic destination to a new generation and bringing in a new kind of visitor to Bali.

“We started seeing a trend that the couples who came to Bali for their honeymoon often returned with their families,” says John O’Sullivan, general manager of the property. “In recent years, we have seen an increase of multi-generational families enjoying our three- and four-bedroom residence villas.

“Bali offers a wide range of cultural and recreational activities that appeal to families with children,” O’Sullivan continues. Among these are the Jimba Club (the resort’s supervised children’s program, for kids aged two to 12), a cooking school and the weekly Six on the Beach Dinner (six cooking stations for guests to sample, accompanied by live Balinese music). Child-friendly meals are available at most of the resort’s restaurants, and children under the age of 12 can stay for free with their parents. O’Sullivan describes the beach at Jimbaran Bay as “calm and idyllic” and “suitable for children,” as well as their parents.

As further encouragement, the resort is offering a deal for families looking to spend five days or more at the property. The Family Package offers a choice of a Two-Bedroom Villa, Royal Villa or Two- and Three-Bedroom Estate; daily breakfast for two persons per bedroom; a Parents’ Night Out; eight hours with a private car and driver to explore the bay; access to Jimba Club and Jimba pool; and eight hours of babysitting services throughout the week.
