Travel Agent attended a recent meeting at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York City with Interjet. Interjet, a Mexican airline, announced it will initiate a daily second flight on its New York City to Mexico City route. The flights will depart New York City (JFK) at 12:50 am and 7:10 am local time, and the flights will depart Mexico City at 3:50 pm and 11:30 pm local time.

The flight begins running on March 12, and Interjet is running a promotion in which a roundtrip ticket (with taxes included) will cost $449.

One of Interjet's main commitments is to be a highly efficient airline that provides a high quality service at an affordable price, said Gabriela Jiménez, director of institutional relations of Interjet.

The Mexican airline flies to 47 destinations and four other countries besides Mexico, including Columbia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and the U.S.

“Last year, we moved more passengers in Mexico than any other airline,” said Jiménez. Interjet transported 7.8 million passengers in Mexico in 2014.

The airline offers passengers several services, like 34 inches of space between seats and a woman’s only inflight bathroom. Additionally, passengers 65 or older receive 20 percent off their ticket price automatically.
