Hawaii Resort to Begin Renovation

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa will begin a comprehensive room refurbishment to replace wall coverings, flooring, curtains, furniture, and decor in April. The project also includes a complete revamp of the bath and shower area, installing new walk-in showers in some rooms and a new shower-bath combination in others.

The renovation will include recessed LED lighting for the bathroom vanity area, low-flow toilets using one-third less water than standard toilets, low VOC paints to reduce harmful emissions, carpeting made with recycled yarn, and energy-saving ceiling fans.

With two concept rooms in place, input was sought from resort guests. Model rooms were open for viewing and feedback encouraged on everything from individual fixtures to the overall look and feel.

The multi-million-dollar project will occur in phases, closing entire building wings at a time to mitigate guest disturbance. With the main two buildings completed in 2010, all guests are expected to be in the new rooms by April of 2011.
