(c) 2011 Marasa Africa

Marasa Africa’s Mweya Safari Lodge has launched the “$1 for the Future” campaign in tandem with USAID’s Sustainable Tourism in the Albertine Rift Program (USAID-STAR) and the Uganda Community Tourism Association’s Pearls of Uganda Program.

The campaign allows guests at the Mweya Safari Lodge to done $1 a day for the length of their stay to help repair and re-construct one school in its pilot year, including the reconstruction of murals in the school themed around conservation. Additionally, the Wildlife Clubs of Uganda, a non-sectarian society of young people’s environmental clubs, will visit the school to instruct pupils on the value of protecting wildlife.

Marasa Africa is the umbrella organization for a group of leading luxury safari lodges in Uganda and Kenya. The organization also supports “Pack for a Purpose,” a not-for-profit organization that suggests to tourists they use available space in their luggage to bring school and medical supplies to needy communities abroad.
